Fresh Peach Salsa is a refreshing summer salsa, with fresh peaches, tomatoes and jalapeños, that is used as a dip or topping for grilled chicken, pork, or seafood, as well as salads and tacos.
In addition to the sweet heat and delicious peach flavor of this salsa, I love that it only uses fresh peaches, vegetables, and peppers, and no processed ingredients.

Why This Recipe Works

Fresh Peaches
- Fresh Peaches. The key to this recipe is the fresh ingredients, especially the fresh peaches. One of the things I love about summer is that the Fredericksburg peaches are in season in Texas, and I love to use them in my favorite Peach Recipes.
- Tried and True Recipe. Growing up in Texas in the summer, my parents would take us to the Texas Hill Country and we would visit the peach orchards. We loved picking peaches. Then we would bring a bushel home and make Peach Salsa, or Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler, Peach Cobbler Dump Cake, Peach Cobbler Egg Rolls, or Grilled Peaches, or peach upside down cake.

What Do I Need To Make Fresh Peach Salsa?
Ingredients
Below, I discuss the ingredients and possible substitutions if you don’t have a specific ingredient. However, if you are looking for the specific measurements of each ingredient, scroll down to the bottom of this article, just above the comments, for the printable recipe card, which includes all the ingredients and the specific amounts of each one.
- Fresh Peaches that are ripe and have been peeled and chopped into half inch chunks.
- Fresh Tomatoes. I like to use Roma tomatoes and chop them up.
- Fresh Jalapeños. I seed and dice one to two jalapeños. If you like a mild heat, leave the seeds out. If you like it extra spicy, then leave the seeds in and add as many jalapeños as you like.
- Green Bell Peppers. If you don’t like any spice, you can use chopped green bell peppers instead.
- Red Bell Peppers. The chopped red peppers add color, texture and flavor to the salsa. Don’t skip these.
- Onion. I used a white onion. However, you could also use a red onion, yellow onion, sweet onion, or green onions.
- Garlic. Either chop up one or two garlic cloves and use the store-bought pre-minced garlic as a timesaver.
- Cilantro. I only recommend using fresh cilantro and not dried cilantro. Chop up some fresh cilantro for the color and flavor.
- Fresh Limes and Lime Juice. Add some fresh lime juice to add that extra vibrance to the recipe.
How To Make Peach Salsa
- Chop the peaches, tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, red peppers, and cilantro. (See Recipe Tips below for tips on how to cut the peaches.)
- In a medium bowl stir together chopped fresh peaches, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, diced jalapeños (1 to 2 jalapeños depending on how spicy you like it!), chopped red bell peppers, chopped cilantro, and lime juice from a fresh lime.

- Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Recipe Tips
- Be sure to use fresh peaches that are ripe but not overripe. You want them to hold their shape and not get mushy.
- Use fresh ripe Roma tomatoes because they have great flavor and generate less liquid than other types of tomatoes.
- Drain the tomatoes before adding to the salsa to prevent too much liquid getting into the salsa.
- Use a slotted spoon to drain any excess liquid when serving.
How To Ripen Peaches?
Sometimes when you buy peaches they are rock hard. That means that they are not ripe yet.
The easiest way to ripen peaches is to place the peaches in a brown paper bag, loosely roll the top of the bag closed. Don’t make it too tight. Then leave the peaches on the counter at room temperature. The time it takes to ripen depends on how ripe the peaches are to start with, but check after 24 hours. It may take 48 hours or more.
To slow the ripening process, put the peaches in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

How To Tell If Peaches Are Ripe?
The way you know that peaches are ripe is by the touch. When you touch them they should give a little. They should not be rock hard, and they should have a sweet aroma.
How To Cut Peaches?
Start by slicing the peach in half all the way around the peach. Then carefully twist and pull the two peach halves apart. One half will have the peach pit. Remove the pit. Then you can cut each peach halve vertically into peach slices. Then you can easily run the knife under the skin of each slice to remove the skin to peel the peach.
