Who’s The Author of Flavor Mosaic?
Hi, I’m Michele Feuerborn, wife, former IT project manager, and a self-taught home cook. My husband and I live in San Antonio in South Texas, and I love to share our favorite regional recipes, as well as Tex-Mex, Southern comfort foods, and family holiday recipes!
I am the owner of Flavor Mosaic, started in 2013, My recipes have been featured in Parade, MSN, Buzzfeed, and Country Living.
In addition to being a food blogger with over 10 years experience, I am a wife, caregiver, dog mom, flute player, wine and chocolate lover, photographer, recipe developer and writer.
My husband and I live in South Texas. I have over 25+ years experience home cooking.
How Did I Get Started Cooking?
Over 25 years ago, after I married my husband, Dave, I realized, like so many others, that getting dinner on the table every single night, after both of us had worked a long day, was a lot harder than I thought.
One of us had better learn to cook or we were either going to starve or go broke eating out every meal!
So I searched recipes on the internet, joined recipe chat groups, gained many new online friends, and learned a ton about cooking through trial and error, recipe videos, and discussions of shared experiences. There’s more than one way to learn a new skill.
Why Did I Create Flavor Mosaic?
Another reason I initially created Flavor Mosaic back in 2013 was because after my Mom passed away, and other relatives before her, I realized that we were losing our family holiday recipes as we lost our family members.
Therefore, initially my thought was, with FlavorMosaic.com, that my extended family, who is scattered all across the country, could share our recipes with each other so we didn’t lose any recipes.
I always enjoyed creative activities. I think that came from my Mom because she was an artist, and one type of art she did was to create tile mosaic wall art. It amazed me that she had the vision to look at all these broken pieces of colorful tile, and then put them all together in a completely new yet beautiful “picture.”
How Did Flavor Mosaic Get It’s Name?
I did not inherit my Mom’s same artistic ability to create tile mosaic artwork. However, I knew that I could look at all these disparate, yet colorful individual ingredients, and put them together in a new way to create a delicious recipe. And that is how my cooking and recipe food blog got its name, Flavor Mosaic. It is an acknowledgement of my Mom’s tile mosaic “paintings” and my recipes are now my “mosaics” with food ingredients instead of broken pieces of tile.
Why Do I Continue Sharing Recipes and Recipe Tips?
Flavor Mosaic is where I share my love of creating new original recipes and food photography, and in the process, I hope I make it a little easier for you, the reader to get dinner on the table, especially if you love Tex Mex and Southern creative recipes like we do. I love to cook delicious, fast, easy, flavorful and budget-friendly dishes with bold flavors for my husband and me.
I love to experiment with ingredients I have on hand. As a result, I sometimes create unique ingredient combinations to come up with some of my best dishes. I create recipes with a variety spices and cuisines (often in the same recipe) such as Asian, Cajun, Italian, Mediterranean, but mostly Mexican, Southern, and Tex-Mex.
I hope you enjoy my blog and recipes.
To make you smile, here are some cute pictures of our furry, 4-legged cocker spaniel child, Reagan, adopted a few years.
Cheers,
