About Flavor Mosaic

Bold, Flavorful Recipes Inspired by Family, Texas, and Real Life

Hi! I’m Michele Feuerborn—home cook, recipe developer, food photographer, and creator of Flavor Mosaic.

Michele F - Owner / Founder / Creator / Blogger at Flavor Mosaic

I’ve been cooking for over 25 years, ever since marrying my husband Dave and realizing one of us had to figure out how to get dinner on the table… or we’d go broke eating out!

Flavor Mosaic began in 2013 as a way to preserve family recipes after my mom passed away. She was the last of her generation, and I didn’t want all those holiday dishes and handwritten index cards to be lost with her. What started as a small family project has grown into a go-to site for bold, easy, budget-friendly meals made with real-life ingredients.

From AllRecipes Allstar to Full-Time Food Blogger

Like many home cooks, I learned through trial and error—and a lot of recipe swapping online. I dove into cooking forums, watched video tutorials, and traded tips with fellow home cooks in online communities. I even became an AllRecipes Allstar before launching my own blog.

Since then, I’ve focused on developing recipes that reflect the bold, comforting flavors of South Texas and beyond. Living in San Antonio has deeply influenced my style, and you’ll find those flavors in everything from Tex-Mex casseroles to smoky BBQ to Southern skillet meals.

Overhead view of plates and a baking dish with cheesy enchiladas rancheras topped with sour cream, jalapeños, cilantro, and cheese. Sides of guacamole, lime wedges, a tomato, jalapeño, and forks are also visible.

Why “Flavor Mosaic”?

My mom was a mosaic artist. She could take broken, colorful pieces of tile and transform them into beautiful, meaningful art. I may not have inherited her paintbrush, but I found my creativity in the kitchen.

Two mosaic artworks: on the left, a woman with dark hair holds a child in a red shirt; on the right, a man in a black suit and red bow tie stands against a blue and gray tiled background.

I like to think of my recipes as mosaics made from food—pulling together ingredients that are vibrant, sometimes unexpected, and always flavorful.

What You’ll Find on Flavor Mosaic

Whether you’re planning a holiday meal or need something fast for dinner tonight, you’ll find a little of everything here—always built on big, bold flavor.

  • Tex-Mex & Southern Comfort Food – Enchiladas, chili, casseroles, brisket, and cornbread.
  • Modern Cooking Methods – Instant Pot, Air Fryer, and Slow Cooker recipes that save time without sacrificing taste.
  • Creative Weeknight Dinners – Easy, budget-friendly meals made with everyday ingredients.
  • Family Favorites & Holiday Classics – Recipes passed down through generations, with a few of my own twists.

I love mixing cuisines and flavor profiles—whether it’s a Tex-Mex pasta salad, a Southern-Asian mashup, or a bold twist on a comfort food classic.

More About Me

  • I’m a former IT project manager turned full-time food blogger.
  • I’ve been featured in Parade, BuzzFeed, MSN, and Country Living.
  • My first job was scooping ice cream at Baskin Robbins, where I learned the secret to extra-creamy ice cream.
  • I’m also a flute player, a lifelong chocolate lover, and I never say no to a glass of good wine.

Let’s Cook Together

Whether you’ve been cooking for years or you’re just figuring out where the Instant Pot lid goes, I’m so glad you’re here. My goal is to help you cook boldly, eat joyfully, and turn everyday meals into something worth remembering—with a little Texas flair.

Tried a recipe? Leave a comment or rating—I’d love to hear what you’re making!

Cheers,

Michele, Flavor Mosaic
