Why You’ll Love Pizza Sliders

  • Pepperoni Pizza – These cheesy pizza sliders have all your favorite pizza flavors. It tastes like Pepperoni Pizza but in a small handheld form. It’s like an Italian Pizza Slider.
  • Homemade Pizza Sauce – With Italian sausage, jarred pizza sauce, and parmesan cheese, you’ll enjoy a flavorful pizza sauce on the sliders.
  • Garlic Butter Sauce Topping – adds a delicious garlic sauce to top off the sliders, making the slider buns taste like garlic bread!
  • Handheld Sandwich – It’s easy to eat in a small sandwich form. You don’t have to worry about a slice of floppy pizza.

Ingredients

Below, I discuss the ingredients and possible substitutions if you don’t have a specific ingredient. However, if you are looking for the specific measurements of each ingredient, scroll down to the bottom of this article, just above the comments, for the printable recipe card, which includes all the ingredients and the specific amounts of each one.

Pizza Sauce:

  • Ground Italian sausage – You can use either regular or spicy Italian sauce based on your preference.
  • Pizza sauce – You could also use spaghetti sauce, marinara sauce, or tomato sauce
  • Parmesan cheese – you’ll need grated parmesan cheese – preferably freshly grated.

Pizza Sliders:

  • Hawaiian Rolls – Fluffy, soft Hawaiian rolls add so much to the taste and texture of these sliders. Of course, you can use any soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian sweet rolls.
  • Provolone cheese – Add that Italian provolone flavor to these sliders.
  • Pepperoni – It’s not Pizza Sliders without Pepperoni slices.
  • Mozzarella cheese – The melty shredded mozzarella cheese really reinforces the pizza flavor and texture. However, if you want to take these over, use fresh mozzarella instead.
  • Oregano – I used dried oregano as a garnish on top. If you like, you could use Italian Seasoning instead to add additional flavor.

Slider Topping:

  • Butter – You’ll need melted butter for the garlic butter sauce to pour over the top of the Hawaiian roll sliders.
  • Basil – Finely chop fresh basil for the best flavor for this topping.
  • Garlic Powder – I recommend using garlic powder and not garlic salt, but you could use garlic salt if you prefer.
  • Onion Powder – Use dried onion powder.
  • Parmesan Cheese – Freshly grated parmesan adds the best flavor.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set aside,
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage, breaking it up into crumbles until there is no pink left, 8-10 minutes. Drain excess grease if there is any.
