- Oil – You’ll need 2 tablespoons of oil, which could be olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, vegetable oil, or butter.

- Kosher Salt – 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- Cracked Black Pepper – 1 teaspoon black pepper
- Onion – You’ll need a small sweet onion that is thinly sliced. You can use white onion, yellow onion, Vidalia onion, or red onion. If you don’t have fresh onion, you could use onion powder instead.

How To Slow Cook Steak Tips
- In a large bowl, add the steak bites.
- Toss the steak with the salt and pepper to combine.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, and add half of the oil to the hot skillet.
- Add the steak pieces in batches, sear the steak bites until all sides are browned, and place them into an 8-quart slow cooker. Add more oil to the pan if needed.
- Once all the steak is seared, add the onion and garlic to the slow cooker, and toss with the steak bites.
- Pour the beef stock into the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle the au jus packet over the top.
- Lay slices of the butter over the top.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6 – 8 hours, stirring occasionally
- Serve with a garnish of fresh parsley if desired.
Pro Tips
- Type of Beef – Round steak, stew meat, or chuck roast can be used in place of sirloin.
- Searing Optional – The second step, where you sear off the steak bites, is optional. This does give the steak bites more flavor, but if you don’t have time, you can skip this step. Place the seasoned steak bites directly into the slow cooker. Discard the oil entirely. Continue on to step 3.
- Add Herbs – You can add more herbs to make this even more flavorful. A few sprigs of thyme or rosemary would add a delicious flavor.
- Control The Salt – Use unsalted beef broth instead of beef stock if you can’t find it. This option lets you more fully control the amount of salt in the recipe.
- Reheating – To reheat this recipe, you can add the steak tips in the slow cooker, in a pot on the stove, or in the microwave until warm.
Variations
- Pesto Steak Bites – A heaping tablespoon of prepared pesto or a squeeze of lemon juice at the end before serving would be welcomed additions as well.
- Mushroom Steak Bites – Stir in some seared mushrooms at the end for a nice twist.
- Cajun Steak Bites – Instead of only seasoning with salt and pepper, add some Cayenne pepper and chopped celery to the garlic and onions.
- Mexican Steak Bites – Add chile powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne to the seasoning.
- Teriyaki Steak Bites – In addition to the Worcestershire Sauce, add a tablespoon of soy sauce or teriyaki sauce.
What To Serve With Steak Bites
These are some of the favorite sides of my entire family.

Yes, you can freeze this recipe by placing the beef, gravy, and noodles in a freezer-safe, airtight container and placing them in the freezer for up to 3 months.
