This delicious Homemade Applesauce made in a slow cooker is easy, delicious, and can be used in many different ways.
If you are lucky enough to have a local apple orchard nearby where you can go apple picking during apple season, and pick fresh apples, then by all means, do so.

Otherwise, then you’ll need to select the freshest apples you can find for the best cinnamon applesauce.
I like to use a blend of sweet and tart apples. You can choose to make smooth applesauce or chunky applesauce.
In addition, you’ll need to decide if you want sweetened applesauce or unsweetened applesauce.

Then you can adjust the added sugar in the recipe to your own personal preference. If you want it sweet but don’t want to add sugar, you could add maple syrup instead.
I think you’ll agree that your own homemade applesauce is way better than store-bought applesauce. It’s one of the easiest Side Dish Recipes and will be one of the easiest Slow Cooker Recipes you have tried.

How To Make Homemade Applesauce
Place the cubed apples into a 6 to 8-quart slow cooker.

Add the water, lemon juice, and cinnamon.

Stir the apples to combine.

Place on low heat for 5-6 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, stirring occasionally if you can.

Once the apples are very soft, you can break them up with a spoon if you like chunky applesauce or use an immersion blender to make it smooth.

Taste and add brown sugar if desired; I suggest adding up to ¼ cup. Serve warm or allow it to come to room temperature, place it in an airtight container, and chill.
