Whether a Houston native or a Houston visitor, be sure to make a reservation at Tony’s restaurant for Tony’s $59 Haute July Tasting Menu, with wine pairings, for some of the finest service and most mouthwatering cuisine in Houston, Texas.
Thanks to Tony’s restaurant for the complimentary dinner. However, all opinions and photos are my own.
I had the great pleasure the other night of attending a dinner at Tony’s restaurant in Houston, Texas where they were featuring their new Haute July Tasting Menu, which is a 3-course dinner with wine pairings for only $59.
This is a fantastic opportunity to experience some of Houston’s finest wines and cuisine for a very reasonable price.
If you want to impress that special someone without breaking the bank, here is your perfect opportunity.
Since 1965 when Tony Vallone first opened the restaurant, Tony’s has been the top fine dining establishment in Houston where city’s wealthy movers and shakers dined for power lunches and dinners. For years it was the place to see and be seen. However, Tony’s knows how to keep things fresh and current. While it is fine dining, it is friendly, not stuffy.
For those who may not eat at a fine dining restaurant often, this is a great time to take advantage of Tony’s Haute July Summer Menu and sample the various wines and seasonal dishes offered.
If you are visiting Houston, I recommend Tony’s for some of the best fine dining that Houston has to offer.
From the moment you drive up to the restaurant, you will experience first class service, friendly greetings and a beautiful atmosphere. The table settings are lovely. Tony’s is so nice that even the “crackers” (an assortment of artisan toasted bread) are beautifully presented.
For $59, not only will you receive 3 courses of lighter dishes made with seasonal ingredients, but each course will also be paired with lighter-bodied wines.
You can find the entire Haute July Tasting Menu, with the selections offered for each course, on Tony’s website.
This Heirloom Garden Soda is served as an aperitif before the meal.
First Course:
The first selection for the First Course is the Orecchiette Genovese with mushrooms, prosciutto, and summer peas. This saucy pasta dish was light and delicious as well.
The second option for the first course is the Insalata Milano salad, which consists of the soft, creamy burrata, prosciutto, treviso radicchio, and heirloom figs. This was one of my favorite dishes. I loved the light, fresh, subtlely salty and sweet flavor combination, as well as the creamy and crisp textures. Don’t be surprised if in the future you see a recipe on my site that was inspired by this dish.
The first course is paired with a 2012 Abbazia di Novacella, Kerner, Alto Adige, which is a lovely Alpine white wine from South Tyrol (German-speaking Italy.)
Second Course:
For the main course of Tony’s Haute July Summer Menu, you can choose between a seafood or beef filet dish.
The Seared Mediterranean Branzino, which is a European Seabass, is served with Tuscan beans, Salsa Verde, and Truffled Almonds.
For the main course, I selected the second option, Tony’s Way Center Cut Filet, with porcini fondo bruno, and sauteed bone marrow. This is probably the best filet I have ever eaten.
The filet was served with a side of silken potatoes.
The second course is paired with a 2010 Poggio Brigante, Morellino di Scansano, Sangiovese, Tuscany, which is a fresh, bright Sangiovese from the Tuscan coast.
Third Course:
For dessert, they offer a very impressive and delicious Il Sogno, or the dream, made with Blackberry Dream, with local blackberries, and layered angel food cake with limoncello cream. It was layer upon layer of incredibly sweet deliciousness.
The third course includes a house infused grappa. We had many flavor selections, including blueberry, cherry, fig, and more.
I selected the blueberry grappa.
For a surprise finish to our incredible meal, they served us glasses piled high with cotton candy!
After dinner, Head Chef, Kate McLean, came out to talk to us about the menu and encourage us to tell our friends about their Haute July Tasting menu. I found her to be friendly, fun, and charming, and obviously very talented.
Tony’s Haute July Summer Tasting Menu was incredibly delicious, beautifully presented, and an all-around lovely meal that is a bargain at $59 and is only available through the month of July.
Don’t delay because there are only 2 weeks left to get this fabulous Haute July Tasting Menu.
