I recently enjoyed a weekend at the beautifully renovated Boutique Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in San Antonio. I love visiting San Antonio because it has so much to offer and makes a fantastic family vacation or a weekend getaway!

Last year Budget Travel, a worldwide travel magazine, ranked San Antonio as the #1 U.S. city and #2 city worldwide to visit. It is a very family friendly city with the Alamo, Riverwalk, SeaWorld, and much, much more.
While San Antonio has so much to offer, my favorite is the Riverwalk. I love that I can stay on the Riverwalk and walk or take a trolley to where I need to go. There is no need to rent a car.
You can do that if you stay at the beautifully renovated Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. It is located at 150 E. Houston Street in the heart of Downtown San Antonio, right on the Riverwalk. This is only 10 miles away from the airport.
You can dine outdoors at their new restaurant, Dorrego’s, with a view of the Riverwalk, or walk downstairs and enjoy a stroll down the Riverwalk to numerous shops and sidewalk cafes.
I loved Hotel Valencia when I first saw it from the street. Then I grew to love it more as I walked inside and experienced exceptional service. Where else can you receive a free Sangria after checking in? That is customer service!
The Hotel Valencia Riverwalk San Antonio recently underwent a $10 Million renovation and the results are gorgeous! From the beautiful exterior to the lovely and large hotel rooms. For a boutique hotel, the rooms were surprisingly large, luxurious and comfortable.
It had plenty of room for workspace and lots of goodies to eat, and even wine to help you unwind!
The bathroom was nicely updated with marble and stainless steel.
Our room overlooked a beautiful courtyard with a large fountain. It looked like a lovely place to relax.
After we got settled into our room, we had to look around the hotel. It has such character and uniqueness that you won’t find at other hotels. It is no wonder that it is a popular hotel for weddings.
Then we walked downstairs and strolled down the Riverwalk and caught a riverboat cruise. It was so easy because the hotel is right on the Riverwalk.
In the morning I came downstairs to enjoy the complimentary continental breakfast. However, I had no idea it was going to be a gigantic Continental Breakfast buffet! It included fresh fruit, croissants, bread, bagels, muffins, and other pastries, as well as cereal, oatmeal, and much more!
I enjoyed breakfast on the patio overlooking the Riverwalk.
After spending the next day playing tourist, we enjoyed a delicious dinner in their beautiful new restaurant called Dorrego’s, which features Argentinian inspired cuisine, the only restaurant with this cuisine in San Antonio.
Dorrego’s dining room was beautifully elegant yet comfortable with unique booths and lovely tile, and a beautiful wood ceiling.
Since my blog is Flavor Mosaic, you know if I have to take a picture of a beautiful tile mosaic.
They have an extensive wine menu and a private dining with bottles of wine stored in the glass wall and views of the patio and Riverwalk on the other wall.
You can also dine outdoors on the patio overlooking the Riverwalk.
The dinner was incredible. My husband had the Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken. This wasn’t just any chicken. It was moist and incredibly flavorful. I tried the Smoked Short Rib Ravioli, which melted in my mouth and so amazing that words can’t describe it.
To finish this amazing dinner, we enjoyed the Charred Apple Empanada with house-made Dulce de Leche Ice Cream. I loved the crispy sweet apple empanadas with the creamy ice cream. It was the finishing touch on a wonderful dinner.
Hotel Valencia Riverwalk has oodles of unique charm and character that you don’t see in the cookie cutter hotels. The staff is friendly and customer service oriented. The rooms are large, luxurious, and comfortable. The atmosphere of Dorrego’s, the on-site Argentinian restaurant is relaxed elegance without any pretentiousness. The food is incredible, and the location is absolutely perfect. You are steps away from the action, yet far enough away to avoid the noise of the crowds.
For me, from now on, Hotel Valencia Riverwalk will be my place to stay on the Riverwalk. I highly recommend checking it out for your next visit to San Antonio.
