Pumpkin Smoothie with an optional spicy Texas twist

This sweet, creamy Pumpkin Smoothie tastes like a pumpkin pie dessert blended into a healthy smoothie and is perfect for Fall and Thanksgiving. Keep reading for a surprise ingredient that gives it that Texas twist!

This Pumpkin Smoothie tastes like a pumpkin pie in a shake or smoothie.

It is Mid-October and it has still been in the nineties.  Where is Fall? Let me clarify for those not from Texas. Fall is when it gets below 90 degrees F. For about 5 minutes and then returns to the heat.

OK. Usually, it is more than 5 minutes.  By this time of October, I would expect to start seeing more reasonable temperatures like highs in the 80s maybe 70s if we are lucky. So far no luck. Hopefully, by Thanksgiving, it will be cooler.

So I have to create that fall feeling myself and I did that by creating this rich, creamy Pumpkin Smoothie that tastes like someone stuffed a pumpkin pie into a blender and stirred it all up.

Pumpkin Smoothie

Of course, I can’t just have a Pumpkin Smoothie without giving that Texas twist! I saw that a chef in Houston at an extremely popular BBQ restaurant created a pumpkin bread pudding dessert with some chili powder.

I love Pumpkin Chili. So I need to try adding a dash of chili powder to this Pumpkin Smoothie to give it a little kick. Only a dash to add a little smoky heat to the sweet pumpkin and it worked!

Of course, if you are not this daring, just leave out the chili powder and you will have a sweet smoothie.

Pumpkin Smoothie

You can top it with a little cinnamon or whipped cream and cinnamon.

The other cool thing about this smoothie, other than the awesome taste and Texas twist is that it is pretty darn healthy and there is no need to feel guilty when you drink it.

Pumpkin Smoothie

Give it a try, and let me know if you dared to add the chili powder to the smoothie. Try it first before adding it and then decide. Maybe mix it up and pour some of it into a small glass and add just a dash of the chili powder and let me know what you think.
