It is now easy to celebrate the small everyday moments in life with a delicious, easy to make cake that is the perfect size for only 2 to 4 people.
With only Mr. Flavor Mosaic, myself, and his Mom, I don’t like to make large cakes that mean lots of leftovers for several days. Duncan Hines has now made it easy to make a cake that is the Perfect Size for only 2 to 4 people.
It even comes with its own pretty, perfectly sized pan.
And it includes not only the cake mix and pan, but the frosting as well. So just about everything you need to make the Perfect Size cake is in this cute octagonal-shaped box.
We now celebrate the small things like Mr. Flavor Mosaic and I having an evening to ourselves, or enjoying a game night with my Mother-in-Law, or celebrating that Mr Flavor Mosaic washed the dishes. Whoohoo! Sounds like a good reason to me to have cake!
Not only are they the Perfect Size, these cakes are super easy to make. Let me show you. In a large bowl mix together the cake mix, 1 egg, 1/4 cup water, and only 2 tablespoons of softened butter.
Then pour the batter into the 6-inch prepared pan that came in the box.
Bake in a preheated oven at 300 degrees F. for about 34 to 39 minutes.
When it has finished baking, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 15 minutes. After it has cooled, remove the cake from the pan by turning the pan over onto a plate and gently pressing on the bottom center of the pan to remove the cake. Then peel off the cake pan disk. Place cake on a wire rack to cool. It has to cool completely before frosting. When cooled place it on a serving plate.
While the cake cools, make the frosting. You will need the frosting pouch, 1 teaspoon water, and 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter. In a large bowl mix the softened butter with an electric mixer on high for a minute until fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add frosting mix and one teaspoon of water. Stir with a spoon or spatula until it becomes dark and well combined. Mix with a mixer on high for 2 minutes until thick and creamy.
Using a spoon or spatula spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.
Then you are ready to serve. I find this is the perfect size to serve 4 people, or 2 people if they want extra large pieces of cake. So it is the perfect size for a family game night, or date night, or celebrating good grades, or that hubby washed the dishes! For whatever you want to celebrate, this is the Perfect Size cake.
