I received a complimentary hotel stay at Hotel Alessandra to allow me to write this review. However, all opinions are 100% my own.
Welcome to Hotel Alessandra, a beautiful modern, luxury hotel in the heart of downtown Houston, minutes from all the fun things to do for a luxury weekend getaway or staycation in Houston, Texas!
I was so excited to be invited to shoot photos of the beautiful pool for the Hotel Alessandra. The only issue was that I no longer lived in Houston. Last year we moved to San Antonio.
So it was no longer a matter of a quick commute to downtown Houston, now it was a 3-hour drive down I-10 from San Antonio to Houston, but it was so worth the drive!
For us, it was no longer a staycation but a weekend getaway. However, I know for many of you living in Houston, this would make a wonderful staycation.
Dave and I were excited to have the opportunity to spend the weekend in downtown Houston. He has been wanting to go to a Houston Astros game since they won the World Championship last year.
We made the most of our weekend in Houston at the Hotel Alessandra.
Things To Do
We enjoyed our weekend getaway to Houston at the Hotel Alessandra by checking off our list of things to do:
- Lounging by the pool,
- Enjoying a drink at Bardot, the bar on the 2nd floor of the hotel,
- Ordering a steak dinner in our room from the iPad next to the bed.
- Free complimentary transportation to the Houston Astros game in the hotel’s Maserati!
- Attending the Houston Astros game
- Enjoying the Sunday brunch at Lucienne restaurant
Minute Maid Park was close enough to have walked to the game, but why walk when you can ride in a Maserati!
Location
The Hotel Alessandra is located in the center of downtown Houston next to Green Street, which is a fun area for shopping, eating and live outdoor activities, and offers many other exciting things to do.
It is in walking distance of most everything downtown and they offer complimentary transportation to local downtown attractions. Read more above that below.
Hotel Alessandra
I love that Hotel Alessandra exudes luxury as soon as you drive up. We immediately noticed the tall, sleek, glass, 20-story building, and the valet parking.
The customer service was exceptional all the way around. Your car door is opened for you as is the front door to the hotel. They are ready to help you with your bags.
When we walked into the Hotel Alessandra we immediately viewed a beautiful grand marble staircase with gold trim and beautiful, modern artwork at the top of the staircase.
Don’t worry if you don’t have buns of steel, the elevator is just around the corner to take you and your luggage to the front desk in the lobby on the second floor.
Enjoy the beautiful marble and artwork on the way.
Check In
On the second floor we were greeted by the front desk and more beautiful, colorful artwork. The whole place has a colorful, modern, luxurious feel.
The staff of Hotel Alessandra checked us in quickly, efficiently, and courteously, and directed us to our room.
Room
When we arrived in our room we noticed the light, bright, modern room with a big, soft comfy bed with the stylish tall headboard, and floor to ceiling windows to let in the light.
Of everything in the room the big, comfy bed was our favorite. We wanted to take it home with us!
The room’s minibar was well stocked with a variety of options, such as liquor, wine, and champagne.
In addition, there was a Nespresso with pods for coffee in your room in the morning.
They provide a well-stocked snack drawer as well in case you get the munchies.
In addition, you have a nice comfy little sofa and table next to the window where you can enjoy the view of downtown Houston out your window.
Or you may enjoy the view of the huge glass walk-in shower with a rainfall showerhead and black and white tile. If not, close the doors, and enjoy a view of yourself in the mirror! 🙂
If you prefer a tub, they also have rooms with big, modern bathtubs. So you can have your pick of tub or shower. With 223 rooms in Hotel Alessandra, you are bound to find a room that is perfect for you.
Hotel Alessandra also has beautiful modern bathrooms in the rooms with black and white marble tile. It feels very luxurious.
For more luxury, the hotel includes fluffy bathrobes with the Hotel Alessandra logo on them as well.
Looking out the window of our room we enjoyed a city view of the skyscrapers in downtown Houston.
Pool
For the hot summer afternoons enjoy a dip in their beautiful pool, or lounge poolside for a relaxing afternoon.
We could even order drinks poolside while we were lounging by this gorgeous pool.
Relax and enjoy the beautiful views or have fun swimming in the crystal blue water.
Gym
If you prefer, stay indoors and enjoy the view of the pool from the treadmill in their gym.
They also have a spa, which we did not have an opportunity to try.
However, you don’t have to be a hotel guest to visit the spa. Locals can book an appointment at the spa. That is certainly worth checking out.
Technology
Hotel Alessandra has this cool iPad to use to order room service, drinks, make an appointment at the spa or to initiate other services.
Food
We ordered room service for the most juicy tender, thick steak in a red wine sauce with asparagus and potatoes.
We enjoyed breakfast at Lucienne, their upscale Mediterranean restaurant on the second floor, which serves Continental European food for breakfast and lunch everyday, brunch on weekends, and dinner Monday through Saturday.
The restaurant decor is modern and elegant yet comfortable.
Dave and I went down down on Sunday for an early breakfast and the food was amazing.
I had the Creme Brûlée French Toast with Chantilly Cream and it was flat out amazing! If you do nothing else, come downtown and have this awesome breakfast.
Dave had the Eggs Benedict and said it was the best he ever had, and he is extremely picky.
Bar and Lounge
In addition to Lucienne, Hotel Alessandra has Bardot, a bar and lounge also located on the second floor where you can relax with a glass of wine or cocktails and some light bites.
The atmosphere in Bardot is light, bright, stylish, and relaxing.
We tried the Old Fashioned, based on the waiter’s recommendation, and he said their martinis were also very popular.
We had one drink before we headed to the Astros baseball game.
Transportation
To my husband the epitome of luxury is to arrive someplace in no other than a Mazerati.
When I first made arrangements for this weekend, he wanted to leave right away because they had a Maserati.
I think if he did nothing else other than ride in the Maserati this weekend he would have been a happy camper!
The amazing thing is the Hotel Alessandra provides you free transportation to just about anyplace downtown in a Maserati! It is complimentary!
Overall, I would rate the Hotel Alessandra 5 stars. I was impressed first and foremost with the quality of service we received and the overall luxury of the rooms, pool, and the Maserati! In addition, the food was excellent, both for breakfast and through room service. I would definitely stay here again. Next time I would be sure to try out the spa.

Hi Branda, yes, the pool was wonderful on a hot afternoon, and that Creme Brulee French Toast was to die for! I need to see about creating a copycat recipe for that. Thank you for the kind comments about the photos. It was overall a very nice, relaxing stay.
